Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate, Chemical Name: Iron(II) Sulfate Hydrate; Ferrous Sulfate; Ferrous Sulfate (Monohydrate); Ferrous Sulfate, Dried Product, Green Alum, Iron Alum, Iron Fertilizer

Freely soluble in water (1g/1.5ml, 25°C or 1g/0.5ml boiling water). Insoluble in ethanol. Reductive. Decomposes by high heat to release toxic gases. In the laboratory, it can be obtained by reacting copper sulfate solution with iron. Weathering in dry air. Easy to oxidize into insoluble brownish-yellow alkaline ferrous sulfate in humid air. 10% aqueous solution is acidic to litmus (Ph value about 3.7).

Specific uses of ferrous sulfate

1. In industry: ferrous sulfate is used in printing and dyeing, electroplating and other wastewater treatment, the manufacture of iron salts, ink used as a mordant, tanning agent, bleaching agent, wood preservative and disinfectant.

2. In agriculture: ferrous sulfate can be used as fertilizer, is a catalyst for plants to make chlorophyll, has an important role in plant absorption, can also be used as fertilizer, herbicide and pesticide, cure wheat spodoptera, prevent and control orchard pests and fruit tree rot disease, root treatment of moss, lichen and other tree stalks.

3. In pharmaceuticals: ferrous sulfate is used as local astringent and blood tonic in medicine, and the iron it contains is the raw material for the synthesis of blood red blood cells in the body
