It is a colorless, transparent liquid with a slightly fragrant ester odor. Its solubility is similar to that of dimethylformamide and stronger than that of tetrahydrofuran. It is miscible with water and most organic solvents. This cyclic ether can undergo ring-opening reactions and, under special conditions, coupling reactions.
